Restraints: your questions, answered

choosingHow do I choose restraints?
Start with padded, adjustable wrist cuffs — the most versatile and forgiving option — then decide how you'll anchor them. Buckle and velcro cuffs go on fastest; under-bed systems suit rooms without a suitable bed frame. Prioritise quick-release hardware and body-safe materials. The Coyscore weights comfort, adjustability and build quality from real reviews.
comparisonCuffs, rope or under-bed restraints — what's the difference?
Cuffs are the simplest — padded, adjustable, and on or off in seconds, ideal for beginners. Rope allows creative ties but has a real learning curve and demands safety knowledge. Under-bed systems run straps beneath the mattress, so they need no bed frame and pack away discreetly. Cuffs suit most people starting out.
beginnersWhich restraints are best for beginners?
Padded, adjustable wrist cuffs with velcro or buckle closures are the friendliest first restraint — quick to fit, easy to escape, and gentle on skin. Agree a safe word before you start and keep the first session short. The beginner-friendly tag flags the softest, most forgiving cuffs with the simplest fastenings.
safetyHow do I use restraints safely?
Agree a safe word first, keep safety scissors within reach, and never restrain around the neck or leave a bound partner alone. Check circulation often — a finger should slide easily under each cuff, and hands shouldn't feel numb, cold or tingly. Padded, adjustable cuffs spread pressure and prevent chafing during longer sessions.
careHow do I clean and store restraints?
Wipe leather and faux-leather cuffs with a damp cloth and let them air-dry fully — never soak them. Wash silicone or neoprene restraints with warm water and toy cleaner. Store somewhere dry with buckles unfastened so straps keep their shape and metal hardware doesn't tarnish. Avoid leaving them in humid bathrooms.
deliveryIs delivery discreet, and can I return restraints?
Always — restraints ship in plain, unbranded packaging with a discreet billing descriptor, and NZ shipping is free over $150. We don't offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges, whether or not it's been opened, but we'll always put a fault right.

Buying guide

How to choose restraints

The right restraints disappear into the moment — comfortable, secure, and quick to release. Three things separate a pair you'll love from a pair that pinches or won't stay put.

Coy buying-guide card — “Pick your closure and anchor”

1. Pick your closure and anchor

How a restraint fastens and where it attaches matters more than looks. Buckle and velcro cuffs are fast and beginner-friendly; clip-and-tether sets give more range. Under-bed systems work when there's no bed frame to tie to.

  • Velcro and buckle cuffs are quickest to use
  • Under-bed systems need no bed frame
  • Clip-and-tether sets add positioning range
Coy buying-guide card — “Comfort is what keeps them on”

2. Comfort is what keeps them on

Thin, hard straps dig in fast; padded and lined cuffs spread pressure so a session can last. Fully adjustable straps let one set fit different wrists and ankles, and soft linings prevent the chafing reviewers complain about most.

  • Padded, lined cuffs prevent pinching
  • Adjustable straps fit a range of bodies
  • Wider cuffs spread pressure comfortably

3. Safety and the Coyscore

Always agree a safe word, keep safety scissors nearby, never restrain the neck, and check circulation regularly. Beyond that, let the Coyscore steer you — it weights comfort, adjustability and quick-release quality from thousands of real reviews.

  • Quick-release hardware for fast, safe stops
  • Check a finger slides under each cuff
  • The Coyscore weights comfort, fit and safety
