Jewelled Butt Plugs: your questions, answered

choosingHow do I choose a jewelled butt plug?
Match three things: a comfortable taper, a gem base wide enough to sit safely against the body, and a size you can relax into — start small. Stainless steel and glass feel weighty and cool; silicone is softer. The Coyscore weights base safety, material and comfort from real reviews.
comparisonJewelled plug vs. plain butt plug — what's the difference?
Only the look. A jewelled plug works exactly like a plain one — same taper, same flared base holding it safely in place — but finishes with a decorative gem instead of a plain end. Many people choose jewelled for a little confidence boost; the fit and safety are identical.
safetyIs the jewelled base safe and flared enough?
Yes — the wide gem base is the flared base, and it's what stops the plug slipping in too far to retrieve. Choose a base clearly broader than the neck, in non-porous steel, glass or silicone. Give steel and glass gems a quick check for a secure setting before each use.
beginnersAre jewelled plugs good for beginners?
They can be — a small steel or silicone jewelled plug with a slim taper is a popular first plug. Pick the smallest size, use plenty of thick water-based lube, and go slowly. If you'd like to build up gradually, an anal training kit steps through sizes for you.
careHow do I clean a jewelled plug and keep the gem secure?
Hand-wash with warm water and toy cleaner before and after use, then air-dry fully. Avoid dropping glass or knocking the gem, and check the setting stays snug over time. Keep it anal-only, store it separately, and pair silicone versions with water-based lube — steel and glass suit any lube.
deliveryIs delivery discreet?
Always — every order ships in plain, unbranded packaging with a discreet billing descriptor, so nothing on the parcel or your statement gives it away. We ship NZ-wide with free shipping over $150. We don't offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges, whether or not it's been opened, but we'll always put a fault right.

Buying guide

How to choose a jewelled butt plug

A jewelled plug is a plain plug with a prettier finish — the fit and safety rules are the same. Here's what the Coyscore weighs and what to check yourself.

Coy buying-guide card — “Size, taper and material”

1. Size, taper and material

Jewels come on stainless steel, glass and silicone bases. Steel and glass are firm, weighty and glide with any lube; silicone is softer and more forgiving. Whatever the material, start with a slim taper and a size you can relax into.

  • Start slim — a small gem plug is the easiest first choice
  • Steel and glass feel weighty; silicone feels soft
  • A gradual taper beats a sudden bulge
Coy buying-guide card — “The gem base is your safety feature”

2. The gem base is your safety feature

That decorative gem sits on a wide, flared base — the part that keeps the plug from slipping in too far to retrieve. Make sure the base is clearly broader than the neck, and give the gem setting a quick check before each use.

  • A flared gem base is the one non-negotiable for safety
  • Choose a base clearly wider than the neck
  • Check the gem is set securely before use
The Coyscore ring at 86 out of 100 with sub-bars for body-safe, base safety and comfort

3. Comfort, lube and the Coyscore

The anus doesn't self-lubricate, so a thick water-based lube is essential — reviewers mention it more than anything. The Coyscore weights base safety, material quality and comfort, drawn from thousands of real reviews across the web rather than our own stars.

  • Use more water-based lube than you'd expect
  • Water-based lube suits steel, glass and silicone alike
  • The Coyscore aggregates real cross-web reviews, not our own
