Bondage & Fetish: your questions, answered

choosingHow do I choose bondage gear?
Start with restraints and a blindfold, then add from there — most people begin with an adjustable cuff set or a beginner kit. Prioritise padded, adjustable pieces with quick-release hardware, and body-safe materials. The Coyscore weights comfort, adjustability and build quality from real reviews, so higher-scored gear rarely disappoints.
comparisonCuffs, rope or under-bed restraints — what's the difference?
Cuffs are the easiest entry — buckle or velcro on and off in seconds. Rope offers more creativity but has a learning curve and needs safety know-how. Under-bed restraint systems tuck away discreetly and suit anyone without a bed frame to tie to. Cuffs suit most beginners best.
beginnersIs bondage gear suitable for beginners?
Yes — agree a safe word first, then start light with soft padded cuffs or a starter kit. Choose adjustable pieces so nothing pinches, keep sessions short, and check in often. Avoid anything that restricts breathing. Beginner-tagged gear uses gentler materials and simpler buckles you can release fast.
safetyHow do we play safely with restraints?
Always agree a safe word (or a non-verbal signal if there's a gag) and keep safety scissors within reach. Never leave a restrained partner alone, avoid anything around the neck, and check circulation — fingers should slide under any cuff. Padded, adjustable restraints reduce pinching and pressure on the wrists.
careHow do I clean and store bondage gear?
Wipe leather and faux-leather with a damp cloth and let it air-dry — never soak it. Wash silicone and body-contact pieces with warm water and toy cleaner. Store rope and straps loosely coiled somewhere dry so hardware doesn't rust. A little care keeps buckles and clips working smoothly.
deliveryIs delivery discreet, and can I return it?
Always — everything ships in plain, unbranded packaging with a discreet billing descriptor, and NZ shipping is free over $150. We don't offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges, whether or not it's been opened, but we'll always put a fault right.

Buying guide

How to choose bondage and fetish gear

Whether it's your first set of cuffs or you're adding to a well-stocked drawer, three things separate gear you'll reach for from gear that pinches, slips or gathers dust.

Coy buying-guide card — “Start with comfort and adjustability”

1. Start with comfort and adjustability

The fastest way to end a scene is a cuff that pinches or won't fit. Look for padded linings and fully adjustable straps or buckles so one set works across different wrists and ankles.

  • Padded, lined cuffs beat thin hard straps
  • Adjustable buckles or velcro fit more bodies
  • The Coyscore weights comfort and fit from real reviews
Coy buying-guide card — “Agree the ground rules first”

2. Agree the ground rules first

Great bondage is built on communication, not kit. Before anything goes on, agree a safe word — and a non-verbal signal if a gag is involved — and keep safety scissors nearby to cut rope or straps fast.

  • Pick a safe word you'll both remember
  • Keep safety scissors within reach
  • Never restrain around the neck or leave a partner alone

3. Match the material to the play

Body-safe silicone and quality vegan or genuine leather wear well and clean easily; cheap coated hardware can rust or flake. If a material is unverified we flag it on the card rather than hide it.

  • Body-safe silicone for anything body-contact
  • Rust-resistant hardware lasts far longer
  • Kits are the cheapest way to try several pieces
