Blindfolds & Masks: your questions, answered

choosingHow do I choose a blindfold?
Choose based on how much light you want blocked and how long you'll wear it. Contoured foam masks give true blackout and room to blink; flat satin styles look elegant but leak light at the nose. Check the strap is adjustable and soft. The Coyscore weights blackout, comfort and fit from real reviews.
comparisonBlindfold or full mask — which is better?
A simple blindfold is lighter, cooler and quicker to use, while a full hood or mask adds a deeper sense of surrender and can muffle sound. Blindfolds suit most couples and warmer rooms; hoods are for those who want fuller sensory deprivation. Any mask covering the mouth or nose must stay breathable.
beginnersAre blindfolds good for beginners?
Yes — a blindfold is one of the gentlest ways to explore sensory play, with no restraint and nothing to escape from. Agree a safe word so the wearer can stop instantly, start with a short session, and describe or tease what's coming next. The beginner-friendly tag flags the softest, easiest styles.
safetyHow do we use blindfolds and masks safely?
Agree a safe word or clear signal first, since a blindfolded partner relies entirely on you. Never use a mask that covers the mouth or nose unless it's designed to stay fully breathable, and never restrict airways. Guide the wearer around furniture, keep the session comfortable, and remove the blindfold at once if asked.
careHow do I clean and store a blindfold?
Wipe faux-leather and foam masks with a damp cloth and let them air-dry fully; hand-wash satin or fabric blindfolds in cool water. Let everything dry completely before storing so foam doesn't hold moisture or odour. Keep them flat in a drawer or pouch, away from sunlight, so colours and elastic last.
deliveryIs delivery discreet, and can I return a blindfold?
Always — blindfolds and masks ship in plain, unbranded packaging with a discreet billing descriptor, and NZ shipping is free over $150. We don't offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges, whether or not it's been opened, but we'll always put a fault right.

Buying guide

How to choose a blindfold or mask

The best blindfold blacks out completely, sits comfortably for as long as you want, and stays put when things get lively. Here's what separates the great from the gimmicky.

Coy buying-guide card — “Decide how much blackout you want”

1. Decide how much blackout you want

There's a real difference between 'can't see much' and true darkness. Contoured foam masks with a nose baffle block light completely and let you blink freely; flat satin ties look pretty but usually leak at the sides and nose.

  • Contoured foam gives true, total blackout
  • Flat satin styles are elegant but leak light
  • A nose baffle stops light sneaking in
Coy buying-guide card — “Comfort decides how long it stays on”

2. Comfort decides how long it stays on

A blindfold only works while it's worn, so weight and strap comfort matter. Soft-lined foam and a wide, adjustable strap sit gently for a long session; thin elastic digs in and pinches hair within minutes.

  • Adjustable straps fit more head sizes
  • Soft lining prevents pressure marks
  • Avoid thin elastic that catches hair

3. Keep it safe and breathable

Blindfolds are gentle, but the wearer is relying on you. Agree a safe word, guide them around the room, and if a mask covers the mouth or nose make sure it's built to stay breathable. The Coyscore weights blackout, comfort and fit so you can trust the pick.

  • Agree a safe word before covering the eyes
  • Never let a mask restrict breathing
  • The Coyscore weights blackout, comfort and fit
